THREE internship opportunities at the University of Alberta Summer 2018

Brief description:
Despite daily reports of conflict in Eastern Ukraine, the Government of Ukraine has put forward over 60 new reforms. These Internships will work with the Research Initiative on Democratic Reforms in Ukraine Project, which explores three dimensions of reform: good governance and the rule of law; post-secondary education reform; and nationality and language policies.
All three topics investigate both as they emerge in Ukraine and as they impact the diaspora in Canada and beyond (http://ridru.artsrn.ua lberta.ca/).
A Internship in Democratic Reform of the Government of Ukraine — Linguistics and Language
This Internship will focus on a) the area of language reform in Ukraine (including also language laws and regulations in Canada) and b) language practices by the multilingual Ukrainian community in the Diaspora in various settings (in Canada). The Intern will be responsible for bibliographical searches and annotations, data collection and classification, collaboration on research project(s) and conference presentation(s) (if interested). The Intern will also assist communication and with compiling information for the project’s website. Proficiency in Ukrainian and/or Russian is required.
B Internship in Democratic Reform of the Government of Ukraine — Good Governance and Rule of Law
This Internship will focus on the area of good governance and law reform. The Intern will be responsible for bibliographical searches and annotations, data collection and classification, conference planning and communication, compiling information for the project’s website, and collaboration on research project(s) and conference presentation(s) (if interested). Proficient Ukrainian language skills are desirable but not required.
C Internship in Democratic Reform of the Governance of Ukraine — Higher Education
This Internship will focus on the area of higher education reform. The Intern will be responsible for bibliographical searches and annotations, data collection and classification, conference planning and communication, compiling information for the project’s website, and collaboration on research project(s) and conference presentation(s) (if interested). Proficient Ukrainian language skills are desirable but not required.
